Chenguang Zhao is an Assistant Professor in the Computer and Information Sciences Department at St. Ambrose University. Before joining SAU, he received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Miami in 2023, advised by Dr. Zheng Wang.

His research interests lie in bioinformatics, specifically in developing and applying machine learning methods in topics such as protein function prediction, protein structure prediction, 3D genome analysis, and biological network analysis.

His papers were designated as the Feature Paper by Genes and the Editor’s Choice by NAR Genomics and Bioinformatics. His methods achieved top rankings in CAFA4 (Critical Assessment of protein Function Annotation algorithms) and CASP14 (Critical Assessment of Structure Prediction).
